Julie Ayton has run St Edmund's Pottery at Salisbury Arts Centre since
1990. Originally trained at Farnham, graduating in ceramics in 1981, she
now produces a range of hand-thrown pottery for daily use as well as
one-off pieces in stoneware and porcelain and large scale ceramics for the
garden.
In the standard range of domestic stoneware, as well as the more
flamboyant exhibition pieces, Julie indulges her love of bold surface
decoration allied with strong forms.
Displaying an altogether quieter and subtler style, Julie's elegant
porcelain pieces draw on the classic forms of the oriental porcelain
tradition. This range includes unique showpieces such as vases and
bottles, as well as lightly thrown and delicately glazed cups, bowls and
teapots - beautiful to look at and delightful to use.
